We are
currently doing several full store renovations for federated department
stores.
The Macy’s
in Parkchester, on of the original Macy locations has received an entire
store renovation and we are putting the final phase into action as this
is written. This store had seen many years of hard use, and is now a
bright new store for the people of Parkchester to enjoy.
The Macy’s
in Smith haven is undergoing a full renovation including a significant
lighting upgrade. We completed last years Reinvent rollout and continued
on this year with a new contract to renovate the remaining areas of
the store. This project in slated for a fall 03’ completion and
is progressing right on schedule and budget.
In early
03’ Gilman Construction headed back onto the main floor at the
Macys Herald Square to renovate the Fine Jewelry department. We were
the contractor who renovated it the last time it was done over 10 years
ago and are happy to be back and having a great time adding new design
elements to this very popular and busy part of the store.
As well
as the main floor, we are also just starting a major renovation to what
could be the busiest area of the “World Largest Department Store”,
women’s shoes. The plans call for an expansion and total redesign
of the existing shoe department, which will span parts of both the 4th
and 5th floor. All this while keeping the shoe department in business
will make this a fun and challenging project.
We look
forward to the coming months with excitement as we are starting an expansion
to the Macy’s on Queens Boulevard. This project will be to put
an entire new floor on top of the existing building. The scope of the
project will include all elements of new construction, from steel erection
and a new roof, to installation of custom exterior wall panels and the
corresponding fit out of the new interior space. Watch for this project,
as we will be onsite in the coming weeks.
